Sony acquires Haven Studios, the new developer headed by Jade Raymond
Sony has announced the acquisition of Jade Raymond's development team, Haven Studios. The value of the transaction is unknown
If you do not know the name, we would not be surprised. This is a new studio that has not yet out of play and is currently working on an exclusive online service title in PlayStation. This partnership was announced a year ago, but now the holder of the platform made from Haven an official part of PlayStation Studios.
The director of PlayStation, Jim Ryan, describes the developer as "an emerging studio with an exceptional team of talents", and says it is the first Canadian studio of the company.
Hermen Hulst, who runs the PlayStation Owners, explains why the acquisition has been made now rather than waiting. He told Gamesindustry.biz that they "could have continued as [Haven Studios] being an external development partner." However, the unencrypted project "is so exciting for us, there was just a desire to deepen this relationship."
What do you think of this sudden acquisition? Are you looking forward to seeing what Haven prepares? Tell us in the Comments section below.
