As we told you earlier this morning, Sony Corp has just revealed its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2021. As traditional, this announcement has been accompanied by a conference call for analysts and Other investors. During the latter, the situation related to the production of PS5, and more particularly to the semiconductor shortages, has been addressed.

According to Hiroki Totoki, the Chief Financial Officer of Sony, the electronics giant set his goal of console deliveries for the rest of the fiscal year and already "_Security". Number of components needed to achieve this goal. According to the manufacturer, this objective is 14.8 million PS5 distributed during this fiscal year 2021. If Sony reaches this goal, this will bring the total of PS5 distributed to 22, 6 million March 31, 2022 (Sony had distributed 22.4 million PS4 over an equivalent period).

A new semi-good?

It should not know if Sony would succeed in satisfying global demand for PS5 or if it will simply achieve the delivery objectives it has set. Indeed, one does not necessarily imply the other. In addition, Jim Ryan, the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said at the end of July last July that it will "encore a moment" before his corporation is in capacity to "_satisfy all the existing request." For him, the "scarcity of chips" always represents a "_defi to which Sony must face."

Sony said previously that he had never produced and put as many consoles on the market for the launch and the first months of life of one of his consoles that he did for the PS5. The global shortage in semiconductors has, however, prevented it from going even further. And as the PS5 demand is currently very strong, the console is still regularly out of stock. As a reminder, Sony has just announced that 10.1 million PS5 distributed around the world.

What do you think of these Sony statements? Do they reassure you? Do you think it will always be difficult to get a PS5 in the coming months? Do you already have a PS5? If no, do you intend to buy it soon? Tell us everything in the comments below.
